Since 1994 he has been living in Bruges - Belgium. I have never considered myself an "artist" in the usual sense of the word, although I realize that a great part of my life was dedicated to drawing and painting.
Anyway, if you're active in the "sector" you are more or less obliged to exhibit, to present yourself and, inevitabily, to be confronted with visions that are sometimes different from your own way of thinking, in a positive or a negative way.
I don't see myself as an avant-gardist, on the contrary, what I do is in a certain way "déjà vu"; I only try to be honest with myself and to continue in my own way, often haphazardly. Nowadays, the world of art is in an unusual and uncertain situation, completely different from the (distant) past. It is ridiculous to go back to the past, the future is dark, in the present one enjoys himself - and suffers - wallowing in his own suppositions.
I don't think it's necessary to give a logical explanation of my paintings. Of course, there is an itinary that has been inspired here and there by what surrounded me. I am convinced that one "does" what he "knows". To know what a painting represents can be a disappointment and this affects mainly abstract art. That's why I'm always a bit surprised when I hear "interpretations" different from mine... and it would be a pity to destroy them...
When you get to know my itinary a bit, you can say that there is a vague memory of a landscape, an unmistakable influence of certain masters of the past centuries etc... Indeed, an explanation or a description, as scientific as they might be, will (fortunately) never be able to fully express what someone sees in a work of art...
